Congressional Republicans will pick their leadership teams Wednesday, as they expect to control both chambers next year.
The elections Wednesday will determine who will set the agenda in the House and Senate and will also prove to be a litmus test on President-elect Donald Trump’s influence over the Senate.
Both chambers will experience a shuffle on the Republican side, due to both high-profile resignations and current leadership members leaving Congress for cabinet positions.
Democrats are holding off for now on their leadership elections for the next Congress. House Democrats plan to hold theirs next week, while Senate Democrats have not yet scheduled them.
