President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address to Congress on Thursday will focus on “continuing to build on the progress that we’ve made,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Wednesday.

Jean-Pierre laid out some of the big themes in the president’s annual address before Congress to reporters Wednesday, although she declined to divulge specifics of the much-anticipated speech.

This State of the Union marks Biden’s last before the November presidential election pitting him against presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, and the stakes are high as the president makes his pitch to the American public.
