Expect climate change to be a top priority for President Joe Biden if he clinches a second term.
Health care, climate change and lowering costs will be among Biden’s top issues in a second term as president, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Tuesday aboard Air Force One as Biden and his team traveled to Italy for a G7 summit.
If elected to a second term, “the president is going to continue to work on behalf of the American people,” Jean-Pierre said. “There’s a lot more work to be done and we see that, we understand that Americans are still struggling,” she added. “But we have seen some progress, and we want to continue that progress.”
Her comments came as Biden prepares to face off against former President Donald Trump in the November election. The two candidates offer dramatically different views on climate policy; Biden has made cutting emissions a key theme of his administration, while Trump is touting plans to roll back Biden’s policies and slash environmental agencies.
