The House will vote on legislation this week against environmental, social and governance investing. EPA’s tailpipe rule is also on the schedule.

The White House on Tuesday came out in opposition to two Republican bill packages that could limit climate-minded investment decisions.

President Joe Biden stopped short of threatening to veto the measures, which could see House votes as soon as Wednesday, but criticized the proposals for their potential to make it more difficult for investors to “make informed decisions” about where they put their money.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), in remarks Tuesday afternoon, promised more such legislation if Republicans gain power following the November elections.

The House Rules Committee is set to meet in the afternoon to prepare H.R. 4790 and H.R. 5339 for floor debate. The panel will also look to advance a resolution under the Congressional Review Act to nullify the EPA’s tailpipe emissions standards for cars and small trucks.
