The White House is pressing the independent Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to quickly approve natural gas and oil projects, a National Energy Dominance Council official said Monday.

Brittany Kelm, a senior adviser at the White House’s energy council, suggested at the CERAWeek by S&P Global conference in Houston that the NEDC is coordinating with and overseeing FERC to streamline regulatory hurdles and ensure that federal permitting processes do not obstruct the rapid completion of private-sector energy projects.

“Any company, some of them in here, can come in, and I’m like, ‘You give me your timeline of what you need,’ and, ‘OK, you need this coming out of FERC,’” Kelm said at a gathering of conference attendees Monday evening. “The directive was: There will not be a federal agency or a federal regulation standing in the way to get your energy project done.

“Company, bring me a project, and we’re gonna get this built as quick as possible. So what do I need to do lever-wise?” she continued, describing the council’s typical work.
