The Biden administration slammed Ron DeSantis on Thursday after the Florida Republican governor signed legislation to eliminate references to the term “climate change” in state statutes.

“It’s pretty shameful,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Thursday when asked about DeSantis’ move.

The Florida governor, who ran in the 2024 Republican presidential primary before dropping out early this year, has been a vocal critic of President Joe Biden on a host of issues, including climate change.

The legislation he signed this week would also ban offshore wind turbines near Florida’s coastline, boost natural gas expansion and increase protections against bans on appliances such as gas stoves, AP reported.
