The Biden administration has updated its snapshots of what the Interior Department, EPA and almost two dozen other agencies are doing to reduce pollution-related inequities.
The latest installment of the “environmental justice scorecard” includes data for each of those agencies for fiscal 2023, on top of previously issued assessments for the two preceding years.
Like the initial overview, released in April 2023, the newly announced version also seeks to assess overall progress on advancing environmental justice, as well as more specific efforts geared toward implementation of environmental and civil rights protection.
It also provides updates on the Justice40 initiative, which seeks to ensure that 40 percent of the overall benefits of federal spending in areas like climate and affordable housing go to disadvantaged communities.
