Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, top Democrat on the Environment and Public Works Committee, has introduced another series of resolutions against the administration’s environmental agenda.
He is seeking to overturn EPA approval of plans from Montana and Indiana against haze-forming pollution. Environmentalists and many Democrats say the plans are too lenient.
The Rhode Island Democrat is also targeting Trump administration delays in wastewater rules for coal-fired power plants and standards for planet-warming methane emissions.
Whitehouse and other Democrats are using the Congressional Review Act, which makes it easier for Congress to undo administration rules, to get lawmakers on the record about administration actions. The measures have no chance of becoming law.
