New research indicates that political arguments over the cause of higher rates are off target.

Washington is rife with arguments over the reasons for rising electricity prices.

The president blames his predecessor’s penchant for green energy, while Democrats point to the Trump administration’s campaign against renewable power.

Both sides might be off the mark, according to a new study by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Researchers concluded that the 23 percent increase in electricity prices over the last five years has less to do with how power is generated and more to do with how it’s delivered.
