The House Agriculture Committee postponed Monday’s planned markup of the Republicans’ latest farm bill proposal because of winter weather.
Both the House and Senate have canceled floor votes Monday because of attendance concerns. The farm bill markup will now happen next week.
House Agriculture Chair Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) released the legislation before recess. It includes conservation provisions popular with Democrats.
But language to limit state regulation of pesticides and litigation against the industry has encountered Democratic resistance. Ranking member Angie Craig (D-Minn.) has said she will vote no.
