Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Wednesday the administration has finished its monthslong review of Biden-era projects — and ultimately kept 80 percent of them.
“I am happy to say that effort has finally come to a completion,” Wright said during a hearing on the president’s fiscal 2027 budget. “We have finished that effort, and we are keen to move forward with the majority of projects, which did pass [review], either straight up or through restructuring. And on we go.”
The administration has sought to cut billions of dollars in funding for clean energy and other projects approved under former President Joe Biden, which has left many of projects across the country in limbo. The cuts included hydrogen hub projects in the West, electricity grid improvement efforts, and scores of research and development projects.
Wright said the department reviewed more than 2,200 projects through a “critical” lens of what will benefit taxpayers, ratepayers and consumers.
