“He and I perhaps have some differences … but there’s a lot that we are in harmony and actually agree on,” said Utah Sen. John Curtis on the DOE chief.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright is scheduled to appear Friday at Utah Republican Sen. John Curtis’ Conservative Climate Summit as some GOP lawmakers spar with the administration over renewable energy spending.

Curtis, founder of the Conservative Climate Caucus during his time in the House, said he would “for sure” chat with Wright about a list of green energy projects on the chopping block. That’s on top of nearly $8 billion in grants already canceled.

“Is the administration following the legislative intent?” Curtis wondered. “Just because there are things that don’t seem to be in track doesn’t mean alarm, necessarily, but I am following along very carefully to make sure [the legislative intent is followed].”

Wright’s appearance at the climate event is also notable because the Energy secretary has repeatedly questioned the need for immediate climate action. He has similarly questioned whether the government should support wind and solar ventures.
