The hearings come as appropriators plow ahead with fiscal 2027 bill markups.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright will make the latest in a string of Capitol Hill appearances this week to defend the administration’s spending plans and other actions — including the war with Iran.

Wright’s testimony — along with that of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins — will come as appropriators are already well into their work on fiscal 2027 bills, including the Agriculture and Energy-Water titles.

Still, lawmakers on the Science, Space and Technology Committee — particularly Democrats — are likely to quiz Wright on the administration’s proposal to cut the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy by $150 million and eliminate funding for Office of Science green energy research.

Democrats — led by ranking member Zoe Lofgren of California — may also quiz the secretary over the cancellation of billions of dollars in Biden-era grant funding following months of review.
