A senior official from EPA’s solid waste program will lead the agency’s new science office stood up by the Trump administration.

Teresa Booeshaghi will become associate administrator of the Office of Applied Science and Environmental Solutions, EPA announced Monday. The office was created as part of a vast reorganization last year that also ended the agency’s larger, esteemed research program as hundreds of scientists have left EPA.

Administrator Lee Zeldin said Booeshaghi brings “the leadership and hands-on policy experience OASES needs at the helm.”
