The Association of Zoos and Aquariums has a full plate of issues to dig into and a new board of directors chair to help lead the way.
On Thursday, the association announced the appointment of Chris Dold, a veterinarian and the chief zoological officer at United Parks & Resorts, as the group’s board chair. It’s a move up for Dold, who has served as an AZA board member since 2020.
“I am deeply proud of the organization’s direction and remain committed to working alongside our exceptionally professional and motivated Board of Directors to advance AZA’s ambitious strategic plan,” Dold said in a statement.
The association’s work includes accrediting zoos and aquariums, with more than 230 facilities in 13 countries having received the AZA stamp of approval as of last year. The association also provides grants and lobbies on wildlife-related legislation as well as on federal regulations.
