LAS VEGAS — Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs run distinctly different states, under different political parties.
But Kemp, a Republican, and Hobbs, a Democrat, delivered strikingly similar messages Wednesday at the Edison Electric Institute’s annual conference, tying their states’ economic futures to energy development.
“Securing our energy future is in everyone’s best interest,” Hobbs said Wednesday morning. “It’s how we continue to grow and create jobs that provide opportunity for Arizonans.”
Kemp, likewise, said the state’s success in attracting large new economic investments — such as manufacturing plants and data centers — is closely linked with being able to provide energy infrastructure.
