The head of the Department of Energy’s fossil energy office under former President Joe Biden has landed at oil and gas major Exxon Mobil.

Brad Crabtree, the former assistant secretary of Energy for fossil energy and carbon management at DOE, is now senior director and global head of technology policy for Exxon’s Low Carbon Solutions business, the company confirmed Wednesday to POLITICO’s E&E News. Crabtree started at Exxon on Monday of this week.

He joined the company’s public and government affairs group that supports the Low Carbon Solutions business, according to Texas-based Exxon. He will focus on global policy as it relates to carbon capture and storage, “low-carbon” hydrogen and power, as well as critical minerals, voluntary carbon markets and other low-carbon infrastructure.
