The Department of Energy has appointed new members to the advisory committee that counsels the department on oil- and gas-related issues.

The National Petroleum Council appointees are Mark Lewis, managing partner of Bracewell’s Washington office, and Mike Howard, CEO of energy infrastructure company Howard Energy Partners, according to separate announcements.

Zoë Yujnovich, chief executive of National Grid, said on LinkedIn that DOE has also appointed her to the council, calling it “an important forum that brings together industry leaders to strengthen our energy system, especially by improving how gas and electric networks work together.” A National Grid spokesperson confirmed the appointment in an email.

A January notice in the Federal Register said the council has been renewed for a two-year period, noting that Energy Secretary Chris Wright has determined that renewal of the council is “essential to the conduct” of DOE’s business. The document was signed in late December.
