As the natural gas industry faces a shortage of turbines needed to create electricity, a House Republican with deep energy policy experience said she is working on a multipronged effort to fix the problem.

Rep. Julie Fedorchak of North Dakota, a Republican freshman who was former head of her state’s Public Service Commission, is leading a working group dedicated to coming up with a “legislative framework” to help the industry as energy demands spike, she said.

Fedorchak, a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, told POLITICO’s E&E News that she is developing legislation to address the natural gas turbine shortage, along with other policy solutions. The plan is to introduce the bill in the coming weeks.
