One bill would protect the site of the 1890 Wounded Knee Massacre. Another would address shark depredation.

The House will vote this week on a slate of Natural Resources Committee bills that passed during the last term but did not become law.

Members will vote on the bills under suspension of the rules, a mechanism intended to fast track non-controversial legislation.

H.R. 187, the “Modernizing Access to Our Public Waters (MAPWaters) Act,” from Rep. Blake Moore (R-Utah), would require agencies to digitize and publicize all maps and records that show where federal waterways are accessible for recreation and fishing.

“This bill modernizes the ways we share mapping and access data for federal waterways and promotes sustainable access to preserve our natural resources for future generations,” said Moore last year.
