Kristen Brengel, an experienced national park and public land lobbyist, has joined the Project On Government Oversight as its new senior vice president of policy.
In her new role — Brengel’s full title is senior vice president of policy, advocacy and capacity building — Brengel will “help lead the organization’s work to tackle abuses of power in the federal government,” POGO said. The government watchdog and advocacy group, which works against fraud, government waste and abuses of power, shared the move with POLITICO on Thursday.
“I am honored to join this team, especially at a moment when our democracy is going through one of its biggest stress tests yet,” Brengel said in a statement. “I’ve been dedicated to upholding transparency, accountability and the effective use of taxpayer funds my entire career. These principles are needed now more than ever to rein in executive overreach, ensure Congress conducts robust oversight and build a strong accountability.”
For the last decade, Brengel has been a top lobbyist at the National Parks Conservation Association, making her one of the leading voices for parks on Capitol Hill and a liaison with several presidential administrations.
