Republicans ask for input on revamping IRA biofuel credits

The move is part of the GOP’s work on how to deal with Inflation Reduction Act provisions next year.

House Republicans say Democrats ignored their input when writing the Inflation Reduction Act’s biofuel credits in 2022. Now the GOP says it’s working on a plan to fix them.

On Monday, Rep. Carol Miller, a member of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, asked companies and advocates for input for a Republican overhaul of the tax code.

“When they wrote the 45Z tax credit to incentivize biofuel production, farmers and other stakeholders were left out of the conversation,” the West Virginia lawmaker said.

Miller, who’s leading a “tax team” on supply chains, said Republicans were boxed out when Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act. She said she’s been working with “stakeholders to better understand the real-world impacts of these tax credits.”
