At an Arizona debate Wednesday, Senate hopeful Ruben Gallego linked his Republican opponent’s position on climate change to her refusal to accept the results of a 2022 governor’s election she lost.
Gallego, a current House lawmaker, said climate change will further exacerbate the state’s water shortages, and called for resilience measures, while arguing Kari Lake doesn’t believe in climate change.
“She’s in denial about climate change. But we should not be surprised by that. She’s still in denial about the 2022 election,” Gallego charged. “Now … will you finally tell the people of Arizona, did you win or lose that election?”
Lake, a former television anchor and unsuccessful gubernatorial candidate, did not respond to that question. And she didn’t mention climate change or the environment in response to a moderator’s question about climate, energy and water.
