President Donald Trump has picked an aggressive auditor of the Biden administration and liberal causes for the federal government’s top ethics regulator.

On Tuesday, the White House announced the nomination of Michael Chamberlain to be director of the Office of Government Ethics. Chamberlain, who served in the first Trump administration, is director of Protect the Public’s Trust, a conservative-leaning watchdog organization.

Chamberlain started Protect the Public’s Trust in 2021 and frequently raised ethics concerns about former President Joe Biden’s political appointees. That included filing complaints against officials at the Energy Department, Interior Department and EPA.
