Trump picks new head for special counsel’s office

President Donald Trump has picked a new nominee to lead a key office that investigates misconduct in the federal workplace.

Trump nominated Charles Baldis to be special counsel for the Office of Special Counsel on Wednesday, according to the White House’s website. The independent agency protects whistleblowers and enforces limits on partisanship by federal employees.

Baldis said on his LinkedIn profile that he was “deeply honored and grateful” to the president for the nomination.

“I thank the Senate for its consideration and, if confirmed, look forward to continuing OSC’s vital work,” he said.
