The new poll ensures there is no data gap for 2025 — a tumultuous year for federal employees — since the Trump administration axed its own survey.

The Partnership for Public Service announced plans to poll federal employees on workplace morale after the Trump administration canceled its own governmentwide survey this year.

The nonprofit, nonpartisan civil service research organization said Monday that it will conduct the Public Service Viewpoint Survey, which will mirror the questions and themes in the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey, and allow career workers to share thoughts on their jobs, managers and agencies.

Earlier this year, the administration axed the FEVS for the first time since it was administered in 2002 and said the Office of Personnel Management would rework the survey and bring it back next year. The move would leave a data gap for 2025 as the federal workforce has been rocked by layoffs, budget cuts and the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

Max Stier, president and CEO of the partnership, said in a statement, “For more than 20 years, workforce data generated through the FEVS has helped leaders across government — regardless of administration — identify problems, track progress, and deliver better results for the American taxpayer.”
