The House Natural Resources Committee will vote Wednesday on a handful of bills before the chamber leaves Washington for the extended summer recess.
The agenda includes Hawaii Democratic Rep. Ed Case’s H.R. 4219, the National Wildlife Refuge System Invasive Species Strike Team Act, which would direct the Fish and Wildlife Service to employ a “strategic, ecosystem-wide framework” for addressing invasive species.
H.R. 4931, from Rep. Greg Murphy (R-N.C.), would allow the National Park Service to extend certain leases without having to go through a new bidding process.
The Archie Cavanaugh Migratory Bird Treaty Amendment Act, H.R. 6021, would modify a century-old international agreement between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Japan and Russia to conserve migratory birds. The bill, by Rep. Nick Begich (R-Alaska), would clarify that the state’s Indigenous communities should be permitted to use nonedible bird materials for crafts and other traditions.
