The House Natural Resources Committee will vote on a handful of public land and wildlife bills this week. They appear likely to pass easily.
H.R. 8686, from Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), would withdraw and reserve certain public land in the vicinity of the military’s Yuma Proving Ground.
“The Yuma Proving Ground plays a vital role in America’s national defense and military readiness,” Gosar said about the bill. “This legislation ensures our service members can safely conduct advanced testing and training operations while protecting the long-term mission of one of the most important military installations in the country.”
H.R. 3925, from Rep. Jay Obernolte (R-Calif.), the “Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation Land Exchange Act,” would approve a land swap between the federal government and the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation. Part of the goal is wildfire prevention.
