The House Natural Resources Committee this week will debate a series of public lands bills and have a hearing on energy opportunities in Alaska.

On Thursday, the Federal Lands Subcommittee, led by Reps. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) and Joe Neguse (D-Colo.), will weigh legislation that would allow the military to keep using certain public land for training.

The “Public Lands Military Readiness Act,” H.R. 5131, from Rep. Nick Begich (R-Alaska), would extend several land withdrawals for 25 years. Those lands are located in Alaska, California and New Mexico.

The panel will also take up Michigan Republican Rep. Tim Walberg’s H.R. 4386, to amend entrance fees for national park visitors with an America the Beautiful Pass on motorcycles.
