$760M needed for Florida park repairs and maintenance, state report says

TALLAHASSEE, Florida — The Department of Environmental Protection said in a report released Monday that Florida would have to spend nearly $760 million to address needed repairs, maintenance and upgrades across park buildings and other infrastructure.

Details: DEP issued the report as required by a state land management bill signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) earlier this year that also demands a plan for addressing needs over the next 10 years.

The report says $499.1 million of the $760 million is needed for building repairs and maintenance of structures, including visitor centers, cabins and boardwalks, to be completed by 2035.

Another $174.7 million is needed for road paving projects and $76 million is needed for water quality improvements, such as connecting septic tanks to central sewer systems.
