The Democrat could be sworn in as soon as next week. She’d take a seat previously held by her father.

Adelita Grijalva is on track to win election to the House this week to represent Arizona’s 7th District.

Grijalva won the Democratic primary for the seat in July following the March death of her father, Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D), the former chair of the House Natural Resources Committee.

The special election to succeed the elder Grijalva is Tuesday. Grijalva is favored to win easily in the heavily Democratic district against Republican Daniel Butierez. The constituency includes part of Tucson and a wide swath of the southern part of Arizona.

She reported last week that she had raised $1.3 million as of Sept. 3, far ahead of Butierez’s $200,000.
