Numerous advocacy groups are uniting under a single banner to raise awareness about the Trump administration’s ongoing cuts to scientific funding and research.

The new coalition, called Protect Science and American Innovation, launched its campaign Monday with protests and press conferences around the country. The effort brings together a broad group of advocates for everything from climate to higher education, with members including Center for American Progress, Stand Up For Science, Union of Concerned Scientists and the National Breast Cancer Coalition.

It’s the first effort to coordinate across multiple advocacy groups to oppose the White House’s science cuts, said Colin Seeberger, a spokesperson for the Center for American Progress. And it comes as the White House is looking to exact more funding cuts outside of the regular congressional appropriations process.
