EPA employees ranked their agency one of the best places to work in the federal government last year, according to a report released Thursday.
The Partnership for Public Service released its annual “Best Places to Work in the Federal Government” survey results Thursday. Federal employees’ overall engagement and satisfaction score in 2024 was one of the highest reported since the rankings were first published in 2003, the partnership found.
The 2024 rankings come as the mood among federal workers has shifted dramatically in light of the Trump administration’s cuts to the federal workforce and budgets. The data shows that the Trump administration inherited “one of the most motivated federal workforces in recent history, in which two-thirds of employees were engaged and satisfied with their work,” the organization said.
“Employee engagement is not about happy employees, but having an engaged and high-performing workforce to keep us safe and deliver vital services,” said Max Stier, the partnership’s president and CEO. “Rather than an arbitrary and thoughtless workforce downsizing exercise, we encourage the Trump administration to use these insights to help strengthen and invest in building a government that can more effectively serve the public.”
