The Biden administration Tuesday announced $5.8 billion in federal funding to address water contamination from lead and toxic chemicals and to upgrade water infrastructure.

As part of the White House “Investing in America” tour, Vice President Kamala Harris and EPA Administrator Michael Regan touted the money made possible by the bipartisan infrastructure law at an event in Pittsburgh.

The dollars advance the administration’s goal of ensuring everyone in the U.S. has access to clean water, Harris said in a press release prior to the event. Enacted in 2021, the infrastructure law included $50 billion for drinking water and wastewater, the largest investment in the sector in U.S. history, Harris noted.
