Biden admin to meet with states over water sector cyber risks

The Biden administration will convene a meeting with states this week to discuss “urgent” cybersecurity threats facing the water sector.

Amid growing cyberattacks on water and wastewater plants, state regulators and leaders must beef up security practices to safeguard the water infrastructure on which all Americans depend, EPA Administrator Michael Regan and White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said in a letter Monday to U.S. governors.

The letter urges state officials to participate in the meeting, scheduled for this Thursday, which will highlight ongoing efforts to implement cybersecurity practices and emphasize the need to take more action.
