A former top Department of Energy official during the Biden administration is joining the nation’s main electrical manufacturing group to lead grid strategy.
Bridget Bartol, who was deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to former Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, started this week as executive director of industry and regulatory affairs for the grid at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, according to a group statement.
In the role, Bartol is slated to work with utilities, regulatory agencies and trade allies to advocate for companies producing grid equipment such as copper wires and transformers.
“Electrical manufacturers are at the epicenter of growing energy demand driven by the electrification of our economy, including rapid demand increases from data centers and e-mobility. Bridget’s deep understanding of energy policy, the regulatory landscape, and the challenges facing the electric grid will serve the industry well during this pivotal moment,” said Debra Phillips, president and CEO of NEMA, in a statement.
