Jennifer Macedonia, who helped advance former President Joe Biden’s efforts to combat climate change at EPA, is back in government service.
Macedonia has been confirmed as director of the Montgomery County, Maryland, Department of Environmental Protection, according to an announcement last month. She served in various EPA roles during the Biden administration, including deputy assistant administrator for implementation in the agency’s air office.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, who nominated Macedonia for the environmental department position in October, said in a statement that she “brings deep experience and a clear understanding of what it takes to turn climate policy into real-world progress.”
“Her time at EPA, particularly her work on major investments under the Inflation Reduction Act, provides her with the background we need to continue moving toward our Climate Action Plan goals,” Elrich said. “DEP plays a central role in that work, and I am pleased that someone with her expertise and commitment is now leading the department.”
