The White House has launched a fall tour to promote a key piece of President Joe Biden’s climate legacy.
The administration kicked off its American Climate Corps this week in Maine and has stops planned through late October in states including Arizona, North Carolina and Michigan.
The tour to promote the Climate Corps comes a year after Biden announced the program, which aims to put young people to work in jobs that promote renewable energy and combat climate change. It also comes as the president looks to shore up work on climate, one of his key policy priorities and one that’s particularly vulnerable if former President Donald Trump wins in November.
“President Biden and Vice President Harris have been huge champions of the American Climate Corps,” said Maggie Thomas, special assistant to the president for climate.
