A top EPA official who helped divvy up billions of dollars in federal funding for water projects has left the agency.

Wendi Wilkes, the former director of infrastructure implementation in EPA’s Office of Water, is now senior vice president of government relations and chief of staff for water issues at Banner Public Affairs.

Wilkes joined EPA in December 2021 as a senior adviser in the water office. In October 2023, she took over as director of infrastructure implementation, overseeing the allocation of cash from the 2021 infrastructure law. The money helps cities and towns replace lead pipes, fix old water and sewage treatment plants, and remove toxic pollutants from drinking water.
