Biden’s last rules blueprint lands amid Trump’s deregulatory vows

The president-elect has pledged to dismantle the administrative state, tearing down several of his predecessor’s rules.

President Joe Biden released his final regulatory plan, which is expected to be dead on arrival under the incoming Trump administration.

The Office of Management and Budget has posted online the fall Unified Agenda, which serves as a timeline for rulemaking actions across the federal government. Agencies are racing to complete regulations dealing with natural gas power and washing machines as well as aerial drones and migratory birds.

Many won’t be finalized before President-elect Donald Trump’s arrival in the White House. He has pledged to dismantle the administrative state, tearing down several of Biden’s rules in the process.

James Goodwin, policy director at the Center for Progressive Reform, a liberal-leaning regulatory think tank, told POLITICO’s E&E News that Biden’s regulatory agenda allows “one last contrast” between the president and Trump’s policy visions.
