Jonathan Black, credited as the first White House employee with “plastic pollution” in their title, has landed back on Capitol Hill.
Black, who was senior director for chemical safety and plastic pollution prevention under former President Joe Biden’s White House Council on Environmental Quality, announced he accepted a senior policy adviser role for New Mexico Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D).
Black started last Wednesday, and his portfolio covers energy, environment, natural resources and tribal affairs, said Adán Serna, spokesperson for Luján’s office.
Ranking member of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Subcommittee on Food and Nutrition, Specialty Crops, Organics, and Research, Luján also serves on the Finance, Commerce, Budget and Indian Affairs committees.
