A new national park pass displaying an image of President Donald Trump alongside George Washington would be outlawed under legislation introduced Wednesday by two Democrats, Rep. Sarah Elfreth of Maryland and Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon.
The National Park Service launched a new series of America the Beautiful passes for 2026, which allows access to federal recreation sites that charge an entrance fee, including national parks, for a full year.
Two of the passes are adorned with images of the current president: Those for U.S. residents, which cost $80, show Trump and Washington and those for military members, available at no cost, show Trump saluting troops.
The move has sparked a lawsuit from an environmental group, criticism from Democrats and a cottage industry of pass-sized stickers to cover the president’s likeness.
