The directors of the Bureau of Land Management and the Fish and Wildlife Service are likely to face tough questioning at two Senate hearings this week.
The Energy and Natural Resources Committee has set a hearing for Thursday to “conduct oversight” of BLM that’s expected to focus primarily on public lands management policies, renewable energy, and oil and gas development.
The Environment and Public Works Committee will examine the Fish and Wildlife Service’s fiscal 2025 budget request Wednesday. FWS Director Martha Williams is set to appear.
But the Energy and Natural Resources hearing with BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning will likely be the most contentious because of recent bureau decisions that have sparked backlash from Republicans and, on occasion, ENR Chair Joe Manchin of West Virginia.
