The Bureau of Land Management has moved to reconsider a highly contested Biden-era off-highway vehicle management plan in Utah’s backcountry.

BLM announced Wednesday it will reevaluate and potentially reopen more than 300 miles of routes that were closed to off-highway vehicles in 2023 as part of the Labyrinth Rims/Gemini Bridges travel management plan covering about 300,000 acres in Grand County.

BLM opened a 30-day public comment period Wednesday, running through Oct. 24, as part of the effort to reassess the trail closures that were included in the finalized plan.
