SANTIAGO, Chile — The United Kingdom is pitching itself as an “honest broker” in global clean energy deals as the country searches for new partners in its rush to hit net zero.
Climate Minister Katie White used a diplomatic visit this month to Chile, a leading producer of critical minerals like copper and lithium, to make her sell on the U.K.’s role.
Both minerals are crucial in the production of clean technologies including wind turbines, batteries and electric cars.
The country is hunting new ways to cooperate on clean energy supply chains months after ministers pledged to “wrest control” of supplies away from China.
