Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board member Catherine Sandoval stepped down from her post, leaving another vacancy on the five-person board that President Donald Trump has targeted for elimination.

Sandoval retired from CSB on July 31 and returned to her previous job as a law professor at Santa Clara University in California, according to termination forms filed to the Office of Government Ethics.

She was appointed by former President Joe Biden to serve a five-year term, which would have expired in February 2028. Her exit leaves the board three members short of its five-person capacity.
