Despite never officially endorsing Kamala Harris, the Sunrise Movement contacted more than 4 million voters in support of the Democratic ticket.

The Sunrise Movement said Tuesday that they had contacted over 4 million voters this election cycle in support of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Sunrise’s voter contact program focused on voters younger than 35 in swing states including Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nevada and Georgia. The progressive organization targeted voters who were likely to care about climate change, and pushed Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as the ticket most likely to further green policies.

“Young people know what’s at stake in this election,” said Kidus Girma, campaign director for Sunrise. “The next President will shape the planet for generations to come. No matter who wins, our movement is stronger than before and prepared to take bold action to force the next President and Congress to act.”

Sunrise never formally endorsed the Harris-Walz ticket, but they did sign onto a letter last month that urged climate-conscious voters to support the Harris-Walz ticket over third-party candidates like Jill Stein or Cornel West.
