House Oversight and Government Reform Chair James Comer is expanding his investigation into former President Joe Biden’s energy policies to NOAA’s fisheries wing, demanding a briefing to dissect its role in Endangered Species Act lawsuits.

The Kentucky Republican and Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.), chair of the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy and Regulatory Affairs, are roping NOAA into their investigation of “Biden Administration policies that led to higher energy costs and placed burdensome restrictions on consumer choice,” said a letter to NOAA Fisheries acting Assistant Administrator Emily Menashes.

The investigation comes despite Biden having left office several months ago and President Donald Trump moving to undo many of the former president’s policies.

The Republicans argue NOAA, under Biden, “tailored ESA policies to conform” with demands from environmental advocates. They say more information is warranted now because of Trump’s energy emergency declaration.
