The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved a slate of nominees during a markup Wednesday, including for positions in the Federal Aviation Administration, Amtrak board and Consumer Product Safety Commission.
By voice vote, the panel advanced Michael Whitaker’s nomination to lead the FAA and Douglas Dziak’s nomination for CPSC commissioner.
Dziak is currently a chief counsel at the agency. He would fill a Republican seat on the commission.
Ranking member Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called him “experienced in consumer product safety matters” and said the nominee “has shown an ability to work in a bipartisan fashion to protect American consumers.”
