The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee voted Monday to advance a batch of nominees, including President Donald Trump’s pick to head NASA.
The panel approved Jared Isaacman for the second time with bipartisan support. The nominee first cleared the committee in April before Trump decided to withdraw him from consideration, only to renominate him months later. He advanced Monday 18-10.
Lawmakers did not delve into climate science issues during Isaacman’s confirmation hearing last week but did express support for the agency’s research work.
The committee on Monday also approved Adm. Kevin Lundy for Coast Guard commandant, Ryan McCormack for undersecretary of Transportation for policy and Michael Graham to the National Transportation Safety Board.
